My final project, I am going to build a character sketch and storyline about Jean Paul (JP) and his coaching for the team he coaches and plays on. While I was shooting this short documentary I experience various thoughts about how a basketball player and coach have wonderfully influenced students out there in the community to fulfill their dreams as a basketball player or coach. I hope that you can gain something from this short documentary. He enjoys playing basketball as his hobby. Jean, better known as JP, loved the game of basketball since he was 9 years old. JP was raised in Queens NY, by his mom and dad. His mother name was Myriam. His father name was Luis Jerez.
This is the interview dialogue between Jean Paul and I.

Q: Has it been harder since your dad passed away?
A: Yes it has so hard on me because I miss my dad so much.
Q: Can you describe some of the hardships you’ve faced?
A: His answer was almost everything and just because he was always there when I didn’t know or need anything. So I decided to force myself to take care of the bills around the house that had to get paid on time.
Q: Okay, so you would say you had to become more productive overall, because the responsibilities in the house were a lot and you had to step in and be the man of the house?.
A: John replies and said basically.
Q: Are you the oldest siblings or do you have other siblings?.
A: His answer is no I’m the youngest but I’m the only one that lives with my mother. I am planning to build this story around you and your life. It’s going to be great. I have 2 brothers and I sister that all live in Queens.
Q: So only you and your mom are living at that house on 111 street?.
A: He responds as yes, okay cool describe what it’s like to keep your head up and stay focused. I’m assuming your mother is employed. It’s not hard to stay focused it’s just the point of him not being here its type hard. I miss him so much and I think of him every single day. My father passed December 5th 2013. Okay, his company and his spirit are here for you.
Q: Does his passing cause you to be more motivated to be successful?.
A: His answer was its sure does. Well that is nice and cool we’re getting somewhere. Q: What school do you attend?.
A: I attended QueensBorough Community College (QCC) and I am 24 Years old. I will turn 25 on September 11th.
Q: Okay good what’s your major?.
A: Jean Paul responds and said my major is Physical Education because I would like to become a high school basketball coach.
Q: Where are you parents from?.
A: My parents are from Puerto Rico and Colombia.
Q: Have you worked in any schools or interned on any places that relates to your major?.
A: His answer was Nope, not yet but I plan on to.
Q: Okay, how else can I make this a compelling and strong story?.
A: Jean Paul answer was I don’t know. How old are your teammates.
Q: Would you say that the team you coach/paly on a high school level or collegiate?.
A: The youngest is 20 and the oldest is 25 years old.
Q: Okay, so you guys ever play at other high school division or college division before?
A: I coached high school level and I play in collegiate leagues.
Q: Is there any way for me to gain access to video tape your high school coaching.
A: Jean answer was no.

FINAL PROJECT PROPOSAL

Final Project Proposal

I am doing a music video for my final project. Me and a couple of my friends are going to produce a 6 minute long edm mix and I will be filming throughout the summer. I will be using final cut pro for editing the video and using combination of protools and logic to produce the audio. I have been watching many music videos like, Major Lazer- Sound Bang, Calvin Harris –Summer. Flipo- Doh Tell me Dat for inspiration as well as ideas. I also have audio packs of certain songs so I can use pieces that I like, for example I will be using some of the guitar cords in Calvin Harris’s Summer to open up my piece. The first 2 minutes will start very slow so I can use a lot of establishing shots. The rest of the mix will be mixed from slow paced to fast paced throughout so I can really play with the visuals. I already got permission for many people to film (club promoters, club owners, dj’s)

SHOT LIST
Establishing shots
LS- beach rising sun/setting sun
LS- nightclub shots
POV- club shots
Beach shots- ppl drinking, hanging out, laughing, playing, swimming, walking on board walk
Still shots of NYC
POV- walking in the city, walking in a crowd
Jones Beach
Jones Beach Tunnel shot
MS of dj’s mixing, editing, producing (Club & Home)

Fast paced shots (when beat drops)
Club crowd shots
DJ playing at the club
MS/MCU of people dancing, walking, talking etc
A lot of establishing shots will be used too but I will speed it up if necessary to correlate to the audio.

Digital Presence – Portfolio Link

I’m not a very social person, when it comes to my everyday life. Although, I believe having a strong digital presence, in today’s society, is a must, if you wish to succeed or get noticed in a professional market. Currently, my digital presence is not as strong as it should be. Some social sites I use include Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and LinkedIn. The problem is, I am not using these as much as I should be, which is something I’m gonna have to start doing, the closer I get to pursuing a career.

Like I said earlier, I do believe having a strong digital presence is key, in today’s society, for getting a job and quickly. Many employers are expecting you to have your own personal website, where your work can be viewed. Luckily, I do have my own personal website. The most important part, for that website, of course, is the portfolio because it displays just how talented you are as and individual.

You should be respectful of the group process, but try as to single out your individuality and how your contributions affected the direction of the project.

3. Reflection – What was the plan and what actually happened? What did you learn from the project you did not expect? What might you do differently from the beginning knowing what you discovered in making what you made?

I am NOT a Rat!

Rev. Al Sharpton used to be an informant in the early 1990’s, setting up mobsters and leaking information for the FBI. The newspaper tabloids say Reverend Rat, as he informs us, he is not a rat, he is a cat, that’s there to catch all the rats. Well Mr. Sharpton, welcome to the Cat life!

New Final Project Proposal

Me and some of my friends are going to produce, mix and edit a 5 minute House mix. I will direct and film footage to put on top, and it will have some type of flow to it not just random video mixed with audio. We will be using this for promotion and will take the whole summer to do so i can incorporate the most current music and have tons a video to work with. I already gave them deadlines and I already started up a shot list and made a basic layout for how the project, we are using house music as the main genre but we will also be using samples of other genres and producing around those samples.

Final Project Draft Proposal

For my final project I will be creating an informative website for my first client who owns a salon. The salon’s name is sapphire eyebrow and it is located in Indianapolis, Indiana. The owner of the salon is my aunt Saroj Bala and they have an existing website. The website is not up to date, the color schemes are extremely boring, and there is not enough information about the salon overall. For example, they don’t have the prices for the services that they offer nor do they have a description about the people who work there. The website is www.sapphireeyebrows.com.

The website that I want to create for the salon will include a home page, services, gallery, stylist, and contact/location. I will be going to Indiana during the month of April to collect the information that I need for the website which will include images. My inspiration for this website will be meenathreadingplace.com and the previous website that was created. This website follows the twelve bar grid system and it is easy to navigate to other pages. There is a navigation bar in the footer which links to the other pages that tell the information about the salon. This is salon has other locations but it is not a franchised company which is similar to the salon website that I am creating. I don’t like that the images do not pop up for the viewer to see them closer and the homepage does not link to other pages that are in the footer. In my website I want the images to pop up when the audience clicks on them and I want to include a logo sign in the middle of the page. The logo on the homepage is too small for the audience to view. The images seem to take over the page. For my website, my inspirations will be meenathreadingplace.com as well as my previous websites that I am completing and the one that I have completed. I will use the previous website to tell myself not to create the website like this. My intended audience will be women as well as men who want to go to a salon that offer good services and make you feel comfortable when you go there. I want people to see my website and use it as an example of how a website for a salon should be.

List of materials: I will buy my url name from reclaim hosting which will be sapphireeyebrow.com and I checked that the url is available. I will be coding using dreamweaver because this is what we used in web one and web two. To re-size images and make them available for the web, I will use photoshop.

Homepage: I will have the navigation footer above when people come to the website and under that I will have the logo of the salon. I am going to include links to the other pages under the logo as well as images that are related to the links. On the bottom footer, I will have the contact information so the audience can easily reach them to book an appointment.

Services: I will have the navigation footer on this page too and on the left side I will have a list of the services that are offered and on the right side I am going to give the prices that they charge at the salon. I will use the 6×6 grid to create the boxes.

Gallery: I will have about 8-12 images of the salon, people working, the outside of the salon and how they do the eyebrows. Each image will have a specific description of what is going on on the image that is being shown.

Stylist: I will have images of the people who work there and what they specialize in at the salon. I will give some background information about each of them next to the image or under it.

Contact/location: In this page I will include the address of the salon, phone number and a map to show the exact location of the place. This will make it easier for the customer to find the place.

I will present my final project at the end of the semester in the CT lab. I will have it up on the projector and I will describe each page as well as how I created it. This showcase will help the audience see the visual content and they can ask me questions directly if they have any troubles understanding anything.

Digital Identity

Like I said in a previous post, having a strong digital identity/presence is very important, especially in today’s work field. This goes double for me, being that I am looking to be a graphic designer/animator/web designer, which are careers that require a decent professional digital identity. Currently, my digital presence is not at the level it should be. Although, there are steps I am implementing in order to fix this.
